My mother was a history teacher. From my childhood, I was fascinated by stories on the Indus Valley Civilization, King Porus demanding respect from Alexander, the wisdom of Akbar the Great, humility of Aurangazeb, the betrayal of Mir Zafar during the battle of Plassey and many many others. As I was a student of science I didn't get the opportunity to know more about the past. I feel young people should be groomed in history. It is out of that urge I have decided to write short pieces on individuals who made an imprint or event that shaped our history. This is first among that series. Happy reading, if you have the time.
